EXAM RESULTS

PUBLIC EXAMINATION RESULTS SUMMER 2016

Highworth Warneford School are celebrating once again after receiving a great set of provisional GCSE results.  Once again, the results in the core subject of Maths were strong, with 67% achieving an A*-C grade, while the English results were particularly pleasing with 80% A*-C in English Language and 97% A*-C in English Literature.  The progress measure for the year group was positive, indicating that the pupils made better than expected progress overall from KS2 to KS4 (ages 11-16).  Some individual pupils achieved a high number of A* and A grades, and I would like to congratulate all the pupils on their achievements and wish them every success in the future.  I would also like to thank all the staff for their hard work in preparing the pupils for examinations, and parents for their support throughout the GCSE courses.

We are particularly pleased with both the attainment and progress figures and these reflect the hard work of both the students and the staff.  Further details can be obtained from the school.  Mrs H V Watkins, Deputy Headteacher.

The Secondary School Performance Tables have been published and parents may be interested to view our data.  We are pleased to report that Warneford compares very favourably to other local schools.  These tables reflect the best grades that pupils actually receive, not necessarily the grades that the Department for Education and Ofsted use for their internal measurement. They therefore give parents an indication of what pupils attending a school can take forward with them into the next stage of their education.

These tables reflect “first entry” results for pupils, as opposed to “best entry” which include results of retakes.  This has made a difference to our figures – for example, for 5+ A*-C including English and Maths our first entry figure is 62%, whereas our best entry figure is 65%.  Of course the best entry figure reflects what the school actually achieved for our pupils.
