Highworth Warneford PTA has been in existence for many years, and in common with most organisations of this kind, consists of a group of volunteers who work hard to raise much needed additional funds for the school.
Any department within the school is welcome to put forward a funding request for the PTA to consider, and previous items include a grand piano, dictionaries, headphones for languages, software for Special Educational Needs and coach transportation have all been on the “shopping list”. A variety of different events are held throughout the year to help raise these monies in addition to the main Summer and Christmas Fayres. A number of craft stalls, games and refreshments help to raise funds at these events alongside the annual Christmas raffle. Entertainment at the fayre is provided by the Warneford Cheerleading Squad, the lower school Drama Group and the Warneford Big Band. The PTA can also be found offering refreshments for sale at evening events such as concerts and parent/teacher meetings.
Over the last 18 months, contributions have been made to the Gothic drama workshops (Y7), fresh start literacy programme (Y7), fresh start resources for Special Educational Needs (Y7-9), Creative Arts week (Y8), success trips (Y8-Y10), tour guide for the Belgium history trip (Y9), resources for languages department, Shakespeare schools festival (Y9-Y10), Science workshops (Y9-Y11), the careers convention (Y9-Y11), books and displays for the library, dictionaries and thesaurus for the English department and new tennis nets.
